Why a labyrinth?
I took the photograph of a labyrinth carved into rock in North Cornwall, and decided to use it as my logo.
Labyrinths have been used for hundreds of years as a tool for meditation, self-discovery and contemplation. Many religious or spiritual centres have used the labyrinth as a symbol for the journey of life. There's a famous one in the floor of Chartres cathedral in France and there's a turf-cut labyrinth at St Catherine's Hill, near Winchester. Labyrinths and mazes aren't the same. A maze's paths branch out and can have dead ends. It can take a lot of trial and error to find the way out and you can easily get lost. Of course, this too can be a metaphor for life!
For me the labyrinth depicts the twists and turns of life. Sometimes the way to our goal isn't clear and we feel as if we're doubling back or moving away, rather than towards.
In counselling, I aim to help you find and navigate these pathways. Sometimes (at the risk of sounding like a cliché) the journey can be challenging, revelatory, full of personal learning and growth, and end up being just as important (maybe more so) as the destination!
